Diane Smithers

Diane first encountered Visceral Manipulation, Craniosacral Therapy and Bowen Technique while seeking relief from chronic health issues in the mid-90s, and these modalities helped facilitate her movement back to health. She began her studies of these techniques with the Upledger Institute in 1998 and now works for the Barral Institute as a Facilitator and Teaching Assistant. Diane blends these modalities and also draws from a range of other influences and studies, including Chinese medicine and yoga therapy. Diane has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Simon Fraser University and is a certified Yoga instructor and a Reiki Practitioner. She believes that the body is deeply intelligent and naturally moves towards health, and sees the practioner's role as that of a catalyst, assisting the body in reconnecting with its healing resources.
